The National Olympic Committee participated in the 22nd meeting of the General Assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, which was hosted by the Jordanian capital, Amman, the day before yesterday.
The Olympic Committee delegation was represented at the meeting by Board Member Hanan Al-Mahmoud and Executive Director of the Committee Mohammed bin Darwish.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, chaired the meeting of the Executive Office and the General Assembly of the Federation, whose membership includes 22 Arab Olympic Committees.
The meeting witnessed a review of a number of issues, most notably approving Bahrain’s victory in hosting the 17th Arab Sports Games in 2031, and granting Jordan the right to host the 18th Games in 2035.
The General Assembly also approved the final report of the 15th Arab Games “Algeria 2023” and the Arab Club Games for Women “Sharjah 2024”, in addition to the federation’s annual report for the year 2023.
The delegation of the National Olympic Committee, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Executive Office and the General Assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, and in the presence of Sultan Sheikh bin Mejren, a member of the Executive Office of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, handed over the committee’s shield to Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, and Engineer Yazan Al-Shudaifat, Minister of Youth, Vice President. Jordanian Olympic Committee.
Sultan Sheikh bin Mejren said that the National Olympic Committee’s participation in these meetings reflects its constant keenness to enhance joint work with the Arab National Olympic Committees, which contributes to achieving the Federation’s goals and developing the sports movement at the regional level.
