The Bahraini national football team qualified for the final of the Arabian Gulf Cup in its 26th edition to meet its Omani counterpart, after it succeeded in eliminating the Kuwaiti national team from the semi-finals by defeating it with an unanswered goal, scored by its striker, Mohammed Jassim Marhoon, in the “75th minute.”
Bahrain’s rise came in the same way as Oman reached the final, after completing the match with 10 players after the expulsion of its player, Mahdi Abdul-Jabbar.
The match was volatile, as the first half had few chances, after the two teams appeared to focus on the defensive side for fear of conceding any goals.
This half witnessed only one chance, which was saved by Fahd Al-Hajri before it crossed the goal line, after a header played by Mohammed Jassim Marhoon, and the goal was empty of its goalkeeper.
The situation dissipated in the second half, which was exciting and enthusiastic from both sides, during which the crossbar prevented “Marhoon” from scoring the goal that advanced Bahrain after she blocked his shot.
The Kuwaiti national team had the opportunity to win the match after the Bahraini player, Mahdi Abdul-Jabbar, received the second yellow card and was excluded from the field in the 52nd minute.
However, the numerical deficiency did not undermine the determination of the Bahrain team, which was able to score the winning goal through Mohammed Jassim Marhoon, after following up on Amin Bin Adi’s header, “75”.
