New Delhi. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has suspended Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia. He has been suspended for violating anti-doping rules. A notice has been sent to Bajrang Punia and a reply has been sought. He did not give his sample in the dope test during the national trials held in Sonipat, after which NADA has taken this big action. He has been suspended before as well.
During the national trials of the Asian qualifiers, NADA had asked Bajrang Punia to give a sample for the dope test. But he flatly refused. Then he said that the kits sent to him for the test were expired kits. That is why he did not give the sample. For this reason, he was suspended on May 5, but no notice was issued. But this time NADA has suspended him and asked him to respond to the notice by July 11.

Bajrang Punia had to face defeat in the national selection trials held for the Paris Olympic qualifiers. Due to this, he will not go to play in the Olympics this time. Bajrang Punia won a bronze medal for India in the Olympics. He has won one silver and 3 bronze medals in the World Championship. He has one gold in the Asian Games and two golds in the Commonwealth Games to his name.
Bajrang Punia was among those wrestlers who protested against former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Then the female wrestlers had accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual exploitation. Indian wrestlers led by Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik also staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar.
