Supreme Court has issued notices to film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. Cine Audience Consumers Association has filed a petition in the court not to reduce the ticket price of Gautamiputra Satakarni movie by taking tax concession. It stated that the benefit of the tax concession was not passed on to the moviegoers. The petition appealed to the government to recover the tax concession money back.
A bench of Supreme Court judge Justice DY Chandra Choud heard the petition filed by the Cine Audience Consumers Association. To this extent, notices have been issued to all the respondents including Nandamuri Balakrishna as well as Telangana and AP governments. An explanation has been issued.
‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ movie opened as 100th movie in Balakrishna’s career. This movie, which tells about the life of Satakarni, impressed the audience. Director Krish has shown the story of this movie beautifully. Hema Malini and Shriya acted in key roles. The government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh gave tax concessions to this movie which opened at the box office in January 2017. Consumers Association of Cine Audiences approached the Supreme Court on this matter.
