New Delhi: The central government has blocked 138 gambling apps from foreign countries including China. Cases of suicides after taking loans through loan processors and not being able to repay them continue. Similarly, the number of people who commit suicide after losing money due to gambling apps is also increasing day by day.
Such apps are mostly launched in India by Chinese companies. As this is said to be a threat to the country’s economy, the central government is taking serious measures to control these apps.
In this case, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs instructed the Union Ministry of Information Technology to disable such apps. Subsequently, the Union Ministry of Information Technology has blocked 232 apps developed by foreign companies including China. Of these, 138 apps are related to gambling and 94 apps are unauthorized loan service providers.
In June 2020, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash between Indian and Chinese troops along the Ladakh border. Due to China’s encroachment on the border, the central government banned popular Chinese applications including TikTok, V-Chat, PubG. Considering the security of the country, the central government has banned more than 300 Chinese applications in the last 3 years.
It is noteworthy that while gambling and credit apps developed by Chinese companies are widely used in India, the central government is actively taking measures to detect and disable them.
