All India Back Employees Association General Secretary CH Venkatachalam disclosed the details on this matter. He said the Indian Banks Association has agreed to hold talks with the unions on January 31 to discuss the demands of the bank employees. The employees said they are mainly demanding five-day bank working days, updation in the pension scheme and restoration of the old pension system. On the other hand, it has been revealed that the UFBU will hold discussions with the officials and workers unions on other issues.

Banks will be closed for 10 days in the month of February, despite some relief in the wake of the postponement of the bank employees’ strike. This includes Sundays including second and fourth Saturdays. A total of 3 Saturdays in this month are bank holidays. However, these bank holidays are not the same in all states. These vary from state to state. Apart from national holidays and bank holidays in the respective states, banks also do not operate during some special holidays in the states.
