Police on Sunday arrested Barjinder Singh Parwana, the prime accused in connection with the clashes. Barjinder Singh Parwana was arrested in Mohali, Inspector General of Police Mukhwinder Singh China said. To this extent Parwana will be produced before a court in Patiala. Barjinder Singh of Rajpura said Parwana was a key mastermind behind Friday’s clashes in Patiala. Jaggi Pandit was also arrested along with Harish Singla’s accomplice Shankar Bhardwaj.
However, interesting things have come out about Barjinder Singh Parwana. He is not new to controversy. He has been giving speeches to Sikh militants through social media. There are already four cases against him. In particular, Sikh militant Jarnail Singh posts videos in support of Bindranwale. The order was issued in July 2021 following a complaint by Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri that Mohali police had arrested Barjinder. He was arrested on charges of inciting riots and making false statements. There are other cases against him as well.
