The English club, Crawland Town, announced through its account that its player, Michael Palmer, died during his team’s match in the County League in England, at the age of 23, after he fell on the field while playing a match.
And the British newspaper “Sun” reported that the player suddenly collapsed on the field while playing a match with his club against Leverington last Saturday, to be taken to hospital, but he did not regain consciousness.
The English club said on its Twitter account: “As some of you already know, Crawland Town have tragically lost a member of our family playing the game they love. Our player, Michael Palmer, tragically collapsed during the match and never regained consciousness.”
The club added: “He was the kindest person and an enthusiastic fan of Manchester United, always striving to achieve the best he could, and he will be greatly missed by the club and the local football community. We would like to thank the Leverington players and staff for their help and respect. Our thoughts are with Michael’s family and friends at this time.” Heartbroken, once again we thank Leverington for all they’ve done, and our deepest respect to everyone who was there.”
The report stated that the player, Michael Palmer, died about 24 hours before Manchester United won the League Cup after defeating Newcastle United, which means that he did not witness his favorite club celebrate his first titles after a long fast from tournaments that lasted for about 6 years.
