UAE tennis national team player, Omar Bahrozyan, won first place in the first edition of the Elite Championship, organized by the UAE Tennis Federation, in cooperation with the Fujairah Club. In the final match, Behrouzian defeated Spaniard Cesar Ferrer, who withdrew due to injury in the second group, after he had defeated Mohamed Yassin, Michael Quince, and Anthony Mucarzel in the previous rounds. The tournament was held with the participation of the best 20 players in the country, led by Emirati players Omar Bahrozyan and Hamad Al Janahi. The Secretary-General of the Emirates Tennis Federation, Nasser Al Marzouqi, confirmed that organizing this tournament stems from the federation’s keenness to hold a series of tournaments that contribute to increasing the experience of the national team players and provide them with opportunities for interaction, especially since the national team is about to participate in the Davis Cup tournament. He said: “After the success of the first edition of the Elite Championship, and the excellent organization of the Fujairah Tennis Club, we hope to organize eight Elite tournaments during one season.”
