The six-month-old baby who was critically injured on Monday after a fall at a foster parent in Kessel-Lo, Belgium, died on Thursday. The foster parent (33) states that the six-month-old girl fell out of her arms, but that statement does not match the findings of a doctor. Justice is investigating intentional assault.
The incident happened at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The girl was taken to hospital, where a cerebral haemorrhage and a skull fracture were diagnosed. The child died of her injuries on Thursday.
According to the statements of the foster parent (33), the thrashing baby fell from her arms onto a nursing table. The child-minding parent would also have shown this during the reconstruction. A doctor examined the injuries and came to the conclusion that they could not be identified with the explanation of the foster mother.
In the meantime, the Public Prosecution Service of Leuven has started an investigation into intentional infliction of injury.
