Algerian Belouizdad youth joined the ranks of the eight-finalists in the CAF Champions League, after achieving a valuable and well-deserved 2-0 victory over its Egyptian guest, Zamalek, on Friday, in the fifth (penultimate) round, in the fourth group of the group stage of the continental competition.
Belouzdad’s balance, which achieved its third victory in the group against two losses, rose to 9 points, in second place, to go up with Taraji (leading) with 10 points, from that group for the elimination roles in the tournament.
The match between Esperance and Belouizdad will be decided in the last round of the group in Tunisia, the leaders and runners-up of that group, after the two teams secured their qualification for the quarter-finals.
On the other hand, the balance of Zamalek, who received its third loss in the group, in exchange for a single victory and a draw, froze at 4 points, to remain at the bottom of the standings, by a point behind Al-Merikh, the third-placed team, so that the match of the two teams in the last round in Cairo became a foregone conclusion after The contest was officially called.
Belouizdad was the best party in the match, and took possession of the ball in most of the periods in light of the departure of the stars of Zamalek from their usual level, and the owners of the land competed for wasting opportunities in the first half, before they settled matters in their favor in the second half, which witnessed the two goals of the match.
The two goals of the match came within 4 minutes, as Zakaria Darawi opened the scoring for the Algerian team in the 75th minute, while Cameroonian Lionel Wamba ensured the second goal in the 79th minute.
With this victory, Belouizdad confirmed its superiority over Zamalek, after it had previously defeated the white team 1-0 in the opening round of the group, at Cairo International Stadium.
Belouizdad became the fourth qualifier for the quarter-finals, after Moroccan Raja Casablanca, South African Mamelodi Sundowns and Taraji.
