Best Friends, Studied And Worked Together, And Finally In Death; Hakeem And Habib Who Died In A Fire In Nowai Riyadh

Riyad: Expatriates and locals are shocked by the death of the Malayali youth who died in a fire in Riyadh. Abdul Hakeem from Valanchery and Irfan Habib from Melmuri, who were studying and working together, met with an accident at their residence near the pump in Riyad Khalidiya. Six Indians including two Malayalis lost their lives in the fire. Apart from the Malayalees, natives of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat died in the accident.

31-year-old Abdul Hakeem is the son of Painkannur Tharakkal Yusuf. Hakeem and 33-year-old Irfan Habib have completed their B.Tech simultaneously from Kottakal Engineering College. They used to work together in the country. It was during this time that he got an opportunity to go to the Gulf and came to Saudi.

Thousands came to Mangaladevi Mangaladevi Temple

Both started working at a pump in Riyadh. Both of them were doing technical work at the pump in the post of technician. Hakeem arrived in Saudi last Friday. Everyone here was a fresher at the petrol station. Some of them got Iqama last day.

Apart from them, Sitaram Rajagopal from Madurai, Yogesh Kumar from Surat, Gujarat, Karthik from Chennai and Azhar Ali from Mumbai are the other dead Indians. The dead bodies are currently kept at Shumaisi Hospital Mortuary. The news that the Malayali youth died in the fire has shocked the entire diaspora community.
