Beto Ortiz traveled to Mexico on vacation after the proclamation of Pedro Castillo as president of Peru. In an interview with Gloria Granda, the journalist said that he still does not know if he will return to the country, but assured that his program will continue to be broadcast.
“I don’t know (if I will return to Peru). You have to see what happens, what type of cabinet he names (Pedro Castillo). You have to calmly look at the panorama and decide what to do, “he said.
Beto Ortiz’s trip coincides with the beginning of a preliminary investigation against him and other journalists by the Public Ministry for the alleged crime of sedition and disturbance of public tranquility.
“I have 33 years in the trade and I have already gone through this circumstance on several occasions. Every time an uncomfortable, unfriendly investigative journalist is put in the sights of the new powerful, as it is in this case, complaints, prosecution charges, trials, persecutions, prosecutors, Congressional investigations, begin to rain. I already know that very well, ”he said.
In another part of the interview, Beto Ortiz indicated that he was not going to allow “the circus” that they did with other political enemies, referring to Alan García and Keiko Fujimori. “The public humiliation, the prisoner’s vest, the handcuffs, the Moroccan women, the Stations of the Cross. That is not going to happen with me, they are not going to get it, “he said.
The journalist did not appear last Tuesday, July 20, on his Beto viz program, which surprised viewers.
