New Delhi: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that the Vande Bharat train with sleeper berth will be ready by the end of this year.
He further said: The inaugural run of the country’s first bullet train is expected to take place in July-August 2026. For this, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project is progressing very fast. The tender for these trains will be floated this year. Current Vande Bharat trains are 500-600 km. They cater to all travel needs.
140 km to implement bullet train project. Pillars are built along the route. Also, long bridges have been constructed on eight rivers. All 13 railway stations of Maharashtra are almost ready for bullet train service. A bullet train on this route travels at a speed of 320 kmph. Can run at speed.
Vande Metro
As requested by the Prime Minister, following the successful launch of the Vande Bharat train, we are planning to develop the prototype for the first Vande Metro train within 12 to 16 months.
The Prime Minister had requested the Railway Ministry to implement the “Vande Metro” project to run parallel to the Vande Bharat trains between two major railway stations nearby. Following that, the Ministry of Railways is working diligently to implement this project.
Railways last year provided subsidies worth Rs 59,000 crore on transportation of food grains, fertilizers and other commodities. This is equivalent to giving 55 percent concession to every train passenger.
The news that there is a plan to privatize the railways is highly condemnable. The central government is providing all necessary benefits to the railway sector. Hence, there is no room for privatization in this sector. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said this.
