US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visited the children who are in the Children’s National Hospital during the Christmas holidays due to poor health. It was reported on Friday, December 24 by ABC News.
It is noted that for the first lady, the visit to the children has already become traditional, and Biden has joined her for the first time.
So, to entertain the guys, the American leader called the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and inquired about where Santa Claus was. He was told that he was flying over Turkmenistan.
According to the publication, the Biden couple talked to a group of children who made flashlights with their own hands, and asked each of them what they painted on the crafts. Some of their kids drew a family or snowmen.
The children also told Biden what they wanted for Christmas: one wanted a piano, the other a Nintendo, and the little girl Penelope said that from her dad’s point of view, she would be happy with any gift.
Biden also showed pictures of his new dog, Commander, who appeared in the family the day before.
The President and First Lady then sat in front of the Christmas tree at the hospital and Jill Biden read Olaf’s Night Before Christmas to the children. Her reading was broadcast to hundreds of children in their wards.
The annual tradition of visiting the first lady’s hospital goes back to Bess Truman, wife of the 33rd head of the White House, Harry Truman, who visited children during his presidency from 1945-1953.
Earlier that day in Russia, fifty Moscow rescuers in the guise of Ded Morozov landed on the roof of the Morozov Children’s Hospital. With the help of climbing equipment, they went down and looked into the windows of the chambers, according to the Telegram channel of the capital’s urban complex. From the fire lifts the children were greeted by the Snow Maidens – their roles were played by 10 psychologists from the Moscow Fire and Rescue Center.
