Independent MPs in the National Assembly of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska (RS) Ramiz Salkić and Amir Hurtić today requested and called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS to immediately suspend and remove from service those who abused and mistreated the boy in the Osmaci Police Station, Anadolu reports. .
They also demand that the MUP of the RS implement without delay the Constitutional provision on national representation in police structures according to Article 97 of the Constitution of the RS.
“We ask the MUP to inform the public about the outcome of the investigations and the perpetrators of the attack on Bosniaks in Višegrad, the harassment of Bosniaks in Bratunac, the attempted murder of a Bosniak in Bratunac, and what actions they have taken against those who often provoke and send threatening messages on social networks Bosniaks in this entity,” Salkić said.
They call on the MUP to end the practice of double standards in the police’s treatment of Bosniaks and other citizens in the RS.
“We call on the high representative, the office of the representative of the European Commission, the OSCE, the representative of the American embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to start the process of redefining the organization of police structures in such a way that it is at the service of all citizens, and not an extended arm of politics in this entity for the sake of achieving political goals.” said Salkic.
At the press conference in Banja Luka, they spoke about the security situation in the RS, the behavior of the police and the position of the Bosniaks with the aim of visiting and warning the public about frequent incidents, attacks, provocations of the Bosniaks in the RS and the police’s actions against these phenomena.
“I believe that the attacks and threats that occur against Bosniaks in the territory of this entity are a direct consequence of the policy advocated and implemented by Milorad Dodik (retired president of the RS) and implemented by the government of this entity on the ground. Systemic discrimination against Bosniaks is continuously carried out in all spheres of society in this entity, which ultimately manifests itself through various forms of provocations, attacks, verbal insults, here we are now seeing the actions of the police according to the testimony of the attacked, abused boy in the Osmaci Police Station,” said Salkić
He also said that attacks on Bosniaks intensified during this year.
He reminded that the members sang “for the honorable cross, for Nemanjić, for Obilić” and emphasized that the approach of the police is unacceptable in the society we live in, where all nations and citizens are equal and violates the constitutional position of the constituent nations and all other citizens.
“The police in this and many other cases behave as if they are the police of a Serbian or Orthodox entity, which has no basis in the Constitution and laws of this entity and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Salkić.
He also reminded that the national structure of employees in the MUP of the RS was never established according to Article 97 of the Entity Constitution, and that out of 7,000 employees, only 330 are Bosniaks and 62 are Croats.
Amir Hurtić said that according to his and his father’s testimony, the brutality of members of the RS police towards the minor in Osmaci is proof of the brutality of the entity police when it comes to Bosniaks.
“This is not the only example of double standards by the police, one way towards Bosniaks and another way towards Serbs. We have witnessed that Bosniaks are often exposed to insults and threats without the police almost reacting, such as the case of insulting various fan groups on and off stadium”, Hurtić said and added that although reports were filed, there was no reaction from the police.
He pointed out that they call and expect the police to be professional, objective and impartial.
Hurtić invited the director of the RS Police to visit the families in the RS with him and Salkić to let them know that they are not alone and that there is someone to protect them.
The RS Ministry of Internal Affairs announced yesterday that the Zvornik Police Department received a report from JJ that the police officers of the Osmaci Police Station acted illegally on Tuesday around 8:30 a.m. when taking a statement from a minor.
“Police officers informed the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bijeljina about the incident, under whose supervision all measures and actions are being taken in order to establish the factual situation,” the statement said.
It is added that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS condemns all forms of violent behavior, and that accordingly, if the responsibility of police officers is proven, they will be dealt with in accordance with the law, in terms of initiating disciplinary and criminal liability.
