The Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj canton, Amra Mehmedić, hosted a reception for the members of the mountain rescue services from this canton, who participated in the rescue mission after the devastating earthquake in the Republic of Turkey, Anadolia reports.
The Zenica-Doboj canton sent two teams to Turkiye with a total of 18 rescuers, seven of whom are members of the Cantonal Service for Rescue from Heights at the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection (KUCZ). The rescuers had the full logistical support of KUCZ.
“Thank you for the extraordinary courage you showed in the rescue mission. I know that there were many challenges and that you saw all kinds of things, but the most important thing is that you managed to save human lives that have no price. We are happy to have you and thank you for always ready to help people in an accident,” said Prime Minister Mehmedić.
She noted that the Zenica-Doboj canton was among the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina to approve financial and material aid and food for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, but that sending rescuers as part of the state team had a special human dimension.
The Cantonal Headquarters of Civil Protection (KŠCZ) and the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection (KUCZ) previously organized a reception and handed over certificates of thanks to all the rescuers, and last week the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton approved appropriate financial support for the rescuers whose team included the dog “Atos” from GSS Zenica.
Danijel Pašić, relevant minister and commander of KŠCZ, and Džavid Aličić, director of KUCZ, thanked the rescuers for participating in the action, stressing that their trip to Turkiye motivated young people in other local communities to organize themselves into mountain rescue services. As they pointed out, this will enable the long-term expansion of the network of certified rescuers, who will have the support of institutions in training and equipping them.
Emir Hodžić from GSS Zenica, who was the leader of the rescue team from ZDK, thanked the Government, KŠCZ and KUCZ for supporting the rescue mission, making himself available to all structures of civil protection in rescue missions in the future.
