Patna: A BJP leader was killed when police batoned him during a BJP rally towards the assembly in Bihar capital Patna. Many were injured.
The BJP today (Thursday) staged a blockade of the Legislative Assembly against the amendments brought in the policy of filling up the posts of teachers in government schools in Bihar. One person was killed when the police resorted to batons in an attempt to stop the rally; Many were injured.
Bihar is governed by a coalition led by the United Janata Dal led by Nitish Kumar. In this case, the government recently brought an amendment in the policy of filling up the teaching posts in the state. BJP strongly opposed this. Protesting against the ruling party and demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi, the BJP marched towards the Legislative Assembly. At that time, the police tried to stop the crowd by using batons, hurling tear gas and throwing water.
In this case, BJP leader Vijay Kumar Singh died. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The doctors who examined him said that he had already died.
Regarding the incident, former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi said, “It is unfortunate that one of our party workers died under police baton. We will file a murder case against the police department. Nitish Kumar should be held responsible for everything.”
Nitish chants against Tejashwi: BJP workers wore saffron colored shirts, kurtas, sarees and salwars during the rally. Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav were also chanted for resignation. They also carried banners with slogans emphasizing it. Till then the rally was going on peacefully. Police had put up barricades near the dog bungalow.
Beyond that, the BJP tried to continue their rally. Then the police tried to stop them. But when they crossed the barricades, the police resorted to batons. Tear gas shells were also used to disperse the crowd. In no time the area turned into a riot zone. BJP leader Vijay Kumar Singh died in this protest. This has created turmoil among the BJP.
