In Pskov, they announced a blacksmith festival in the city. It will take place from 15 to 17 July. The organizer and ideological inspirer, blacksmith Timofey Silich, spoke about the event.
According to him, cited by the Pskov news feed, blacksmith festivals are held in many cities, and in Pskov, which has been the historical center of blacksmithing since the 12th century, such an event has not yet taken place.
The idea of holding the festival came to Silich in the process of communicating with foreign masters at a conference in Buenos Aires. In 2020, a meeting of blacksmiths was held at the House of Crafts, at which it was decided to do a common job as part of the Shackler’s Day. Then the idea came up to expand the format and not just organize a city holiday, but a festival.
Two competitions are planned: creative and handicraft. Participants will have to make a fragment of the composition, which will be shown on the spot.
30 professionals and 30 apprentice blacksmiths from all over Russia should come to the festival. The event will be held at the expense of regional and presidential grants.
