The experienced horses “Bold Act” and “Silver Note”, owned by “Godolphin”, begin another adventure in North American racing, when the two four-year-old colts, trained by Charlie Appleby, today chase the title of the “Elkhorn Stakes” race designated for horses of this category. The second, “Group 2”, will be held at the famous “Keneland” track.
“Bold Act” is seeking to achieve its second victory on the “Keneland” track, a distance of 2400 meters on grass, after winning last October the title of the “Sycamore Stakes” race designated for third category “Group 3” horses, before heading to take on new challenges, including an easy victory in the “Group 3” race. Dubai City of Gold, as part of the Super Satrade evening ceremony at the beginning of last March, at the Meydan International Raceway in Dubai.
In turn, “Silver Note” returns to American racing, after narrowly losing at the beginning of his career in 2022, by a “nose” in the “Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf” race, which is designated for the first category, “Group 1”, the highest classification in the world, and last year he recorded a participation in every race. From the “Belmont Park” and “Colonial Downs” racetracks, he followed that up by finishing runner-up at the end of last season by a margin of “half a length” in the “Twilight Derby” race for Class 2 horses, “Group 2,” at the “Santa Anita” track, and most recently, he finished third in the “Group 2” race. Hollywood Derby for the first category, “Group 1”, at the “Del Mar” track.
Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby commented on the horses’ chances in the Elkhorn Stakes race, saying in press statements: “The colt (Bold Act) has previously won on the same track and distance, and it is clear that he meets some of the requirements, and his trip to America and his recent training were good in preparation.” For this race, he got a good starting gate when he started his race from the fourth gate.”
He added: “The colt (Silver Note) won the outer 11th gate, but we feel that the increase in distance may suit him according to his running style, and if he endures the distance, this will open some doors for him, and we are happy with the progress of his preparations.”
