On Thursday, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) revealed the lists of candidates for the Best in the World Awards for the year 2023, which witnessed the presence of Yacine Bounou, the goalkeeper of the Moroccan national team and Al Hilal club, and Marcelo Brozovic, the player of the Croatia national team and Al Nasr club, among the candidates to win Goa’s best goalkeeper and best player awards.
FIFA opened nominations for fans to vote in choosing the winners of the Best Player, Best Female Player, Best Men’s Coach, Best Women’s Football Coach, Best Goalkeeper, Best Female Goalkeeper, and the Fans’ Award.
The list of candidates for the Best Player Award included the name of Aitana Bonmatti, winner of the Golden Ball at the Women’s World Cup, who was one of four Spanish players on the list. The list also includes four players from England and three players from the Australian national team, noting that the list included 16 players.
The list of candidates for the Best Player Award included six players from English Manchester City out of 12 candidates, in addition to the Spanish City coach Pep Guardiola, who is nominated for the Best Coach in the World award. As for women’s football coaches, the list included the names of Emma Hayes and Sarina Wyman.
As for the list of candidates for the Best Goalkeeper Award, it included the name of Mary Earps, winner of the Golden Glove Award in the Women’s World Cup, along with Catalina Coy, and the list of candidates for the Best Goalkeeper Award included five names from three different continents.
The competition for the Best Player award is between Aitana Bonmatti, Linda Caicedo, Rachel Daly, Kadidiato Diani, Kaitlyn Ford, Mary Fowler, Alex Greenwood, Jennifer Hermoso, Lindsay Horan, Amanda Ellstedt, Lauren James, Sam Kerr, Maby Lyon, Hinata Miyazawa, Salma Baraluillo and Keira Walsh.
The list of nominees for the Best Player Award included Julian Alvarez, Marcelo Brozovic, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Erling Haaland, Rodri, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Victor Osimhen, Declan Rice and Bernardo Silva.
For the Best Coach Award for Women’s Teams, the list included Peter Gerhardsson, Jonathan Khairaldin, Tony Gustafsson, Emma Hayes and Sarina Wyman.
As for the list of candidates for the Best Men’s Coach Award, it included Pep Guardiola, Simone Inzaghi, Ange Postecoglou, Luciano Spalletti and Xavi.
Mackenzie Arnold topped the list of nominees for the Best Goalkeeper Award, along with Anne-Katrin Berger, Catalina Cole, Marie Erbes, Christian Endler, Zisira Mosovic, and Sandra Banos Garcia-Fiami.
The list of candidates for the Best Goalkeeper Award included Yassine Bounou, Thibaut Courtois, Ederson, Andre Onana, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The list of nominees for the Best Supporter Award included a Colon Atletico fan, Fran Herndal, Miguel Angel, and a Millonarios fan.
