Brazilian singer-songwriter Elsa Suarez has died at the age of 92. This was reported in a statement on her Instagram page.
It is specified that she died on January 20 at her home in Rio de Janeiro at 15:45 (21:45 Moscow time) due to natural causes.
“An icon of Brazilian music who was considered one of the world’s greatest performers, the singer who won the title of “Voice of the Millennium”, lived a bright, rich life and left a mark on the world thanks to her voice, her strength and her determination,” follows from the message on the singer’s page in the social network.
Suarez began her musical career in the early 1950s. During her long creative life, the performer has released 34 albums. The last album was released in 2019.
No less bright was her personal life. So, in 1962, Elsa Suarez went to Chile to support the Brazilian national team at the World Cup. During one of the parties, she began an affair with the striker Garrincha. The athlete subsequently divorced his wife and married Suarez. Their common son subsequently died at the age of ten in an accident.
