Amritsar. Bullet fired outside Sri Harmandir Sahib. An attempt has been made to shoot former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal. The police have arrested Narayan Singh Chaudhary, who was accused of firing. ADCP Harpal Singh has confirmed this.
Dr. Daljit Singh said that as a result of the attempt to attack Sukhbir Singh Badal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should resign. A judicial inquiry should be conducted into this. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the funeral procession of law and order has passed. Convict Narayan Singh very comfortably approached Badal and tried to open fire. Fire was fired but Narayan Singh missed the target as he was caught by a security personnel. If the security personnel had not controlled him when he missed his target, anything could have happened.
Sukhbir Singh Badal had reached Sri Darbar Sahib for the second day today to fulfill the religious punishment given by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the highest court of Sikhs on sacrilege issues. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, who was a cabinet minister in the SAD government, had come along with other leaders including Bikramjit Majithia. He was serving at the gate wearing the attire of a servant and holding a spear in his hands, when the attack took place.
On Monday, religious punishment was given to 17 people including Sukhbir Singh Badal for the ‘crimes’ of the SAD government from 2007 to 2017. All of them will serve for 2 hours each in 5 Gurudwaras for 10 days. Politics has intensified after this attack. Akali Dal has demanded resignation from the Chief Minister. Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema said that the Chief Minister should resign.
