During carnival days in the Altos de Jalisco, bullfights are common. The importance of these carnival fairs slows down the programming of places such as the Monumental Plaza Mexico in the country’s capital.
Mexico, embarked on a series of reopenings after a long legal closure, will not have any celebrations this Sunday.
This year Jalostotitlán will host three bullfights this Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Possible suspension in Plaza México postponed
A judge announced this Thursday the postponement until the February 13th of the decision on the possible indefinite suspension of the bullfights in the Plaza Mexicothe largest bullfighting venue in the world, after protection from animal rights activists.
According to judicial agreements published this Thursday, the head of the Fifth court in administrative matters of Mexico City, Sandra de Jesús Zúñigapostponed its decision, scheduled for Wednesday, because the Secretary of Agriculture and the Benito Juárez Mayor’s Office They had not received notifications of the case.
“Consequently, in order to not leave the parties in a state of defenselessnessthe incidental hearing scheduled for this date is deferred,” establishes file 152/2024.
The incidental hearing was scheduled for Wednesday after an injunction filed by the collective “All for the Love of Bulls” to suspend the bullfighting shows in the Benito Juárez Mayor’s Office, the district of the capital where the monumental building resides.
