The Fath Rabat team settled for a 1-1 draw against its guest, USM Algiers, during the match held this Saturday evening, on the floor of Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, for the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Cup competitions.
Fath Rabat created a number of scoring opportunities, but the final touch was absent in front of the goal, while the opponent relied on counterattacks throughout the first round.
USMA succeeded in opening the score in the last minute of the first half, with a header signed by Zinedine Belaid.
During the second round, the Rabat team tried to adjust the balance, on more than one occasion, after coach Jamal Salami made a number of changes.
FUS Rabat managed to snatch an equaliser, in the 84th minute of the match, through Nigerian James Munday, so the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Rabat team is now required to win against USM Algeria, during the return match, on Sunday, October 1, on the floor of the Omar Hammadi Stadium in Algeria, in order to guarantee the qualification card.
