On January 23, Izvestia correspondent Roman Polshakov showed the work of Russian artillerymen on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
“Acacia crew is now in firing position. They got a task, a goal, they make adjustments. 20 seconds and the shells will fly on the head of neo-Nazis,” Polshakov said.
As the correspondent noted, after working out for the purposes of the calculation, it is urgently necessary to do the so-called roll, since soon the guns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may return fire.
“Basically, we are now working on strong points so that they lie down, and the infantry can also take strong points without enemy fire,” said the battery commander with the call sign “Patriot”.
The serviceman also noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are pulling up their reserves, but Russian artillerymen are trying to destroy them.
On the eve of Izvestia, they learned that Russian artillerymen destroyed a 120-mm mortar crew and a radar station of Ukrainian troops in the village of Sadovy near Kherson. According to the representative of the region’s emergency services, eight Ukrainian soldiers were also liquidated, nine more were injured.
On the same day, the commander of one of the battalions of the RF Armed Forces with the call sign “Askold” told Izvestia about the battles against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kremennaya area. The mutual exchange of artillery shells takes place at a short distance: the minimum distance is 50 m, the maximum is 200 m. According to Askold, his colleagues are confidently leading this duel: the enemy cannot withstand such pressure and gradually retreats.
Prior to that, on January 20, Izvestia correspondent Alexander Safiulin showed how Russian artillerymen deliver powerful strikes from D-20 howitzers on the infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Maryinka.
The special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
