In conjunction with the Sheikh Zayed Festival, the Events Department at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for Heritage Revival participated in three rounds of the Camel Journey Marathon race, at the Al Wathba Camel Race Track, as part of the Zayed Grand Prix competitions.
The race, which extended for two kilometers, witnessed the participation of 53 contestants residing in the UAE. Emirati Hamda Abdullah Hamdan achieved first place in the individual weight category, riding the mount “Sarab”, and her compatriot Maryam Mohammed Al Zaabi came in second place, with a small margin, on the mount “Rasasi”. And in third place is Chinese Alexis, who rides the “Mile” ride.
As for the men’s open weight category, Frenchman Mohamed Amihdar was able to achieve first place in the race on the “White” mount, Russian Ivan Kovalenko came in second place on the “Al-Hadda” mount, and in third place was the British Harry Fiston on the “Shaheen” mount.
In the women’s open category, Sabrina Bouvier from France came in first place, riding the mount “Al Tay”, followed by Tunisian Kawthar Ben Hamida, riding the mount “Hamloul”, while Britain’s Alison Wrigley came in the mount, “Masihan”.
The Director General of the Camel Racing Federation and Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, crowned those who won the first places, in the presence of the CEO of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, Abdullah Hamdan Bin Dalmouk.
Emirati Hamda was able to achieve first place in the single weight category amid great competition, and about this victory she said: “The victory carries a lot of national meanings, as it was achieved at the Al Wathba track, and within the Sheikh Zayed Festival, which we have always considered a role model and the school from which we learn, and I dedicate this victory To everyone who helped me preserve this heritage that I am proud of, starting with my family, which planted the love of this great national symbol in our souls, and ending with the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage. For his lasting contribution to preserving national identity.”
