New Delhi. After India’s strong rebuke, the tone of the Canadian government has changed. Today, the Canadian government has issued a statement in the case of Sikh terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar and has itself termed the allegations against PM Modi and other Indian officials as baseless.
The statement said that due to a significant and continuing threat to public safety on October 14, RCMP and authorities took the extraordinary step of making public allegations of serious criminal activity in Canada by agents of the Government of India. However, the government said that these are only speculations.
However, the Canadian government does not have, nor is it aware of, any evidence linking Prime Minister Modi, Minister Jaishankar and NSA Doval to serious criminal activity within Canada. A Canadian media report has claimed that the Indian Prime Minister was aware of the alleged plot to assassinate Sikh terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. This report has been published quoting an unnamed official.
India had expressed strong opposition to this report. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that such allegations are ridiculous and they must be answered properly. He said such a defamatory campaign further damages our already strained relations. Let us tell you that in June 2023, pro-Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara. However, till now the mystery has not been revealed as to who has committed this murder. The Canadian government had alleged that Indian government officials were involved in this murder.
