Car accident in Oman; Car burnt down, two Keralites injured

Oman: Two Keralites injured in road accident in Oman. The vehicle was traveling from Duqm to Salalah in Oman when it crashed in Jazil. The vehicle overturned while running. Shafeeq Niaz, a native of Mullurkara, Thrissur, was admitted to Salalah Sultan Qaboos Hospital with serious injuries. Among the injured is a resident of Malappuram. Mahmood, a native of Vengara, Malappuram was injured. The vehicle was carrying five people. The vehicle caught fire after people were removed from the vehicle.

One person was killed in a vehicle accident involving a Malayalee family in Haima, Oman yesterday. Sheeba Mary Thomas, a resident of Chepad, Kayakulam, Alappuzha, who was working as a nurse in Dubai, died at the church. Seven people were injured in a car accident. The accident happened early Sunday morning in Haima, Alwusta Governorate.

Meanwhile, Oman is busy celebrating its nine – day Eid holiday. Sultan Haytham bin Tariq delivered the Eid message. On the day of the festival, the Sultan extended his greetings to the citizens and residents of the country. Oman issued a statement in this regard. Ministers of Oman and others greeted Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. The day before, the Sultan had handed over Eid greetings to the heads of Arab states, including the GCC.

Oman releases prisoners every year to celebrate Eid. 304 prisoners have been released. They were convicted in various cases and are in jail. The decision to release the 304 prisoners was based on a pardon granted by Sultan Haitam bin Tariq. Of the 304 detainees, 108 are foreigners.
