More opportunity in dental sector: UK team held talks with minister Veena George
The UK delegation met with the Health Minister Veena George as part of creating more opportunities in the dental sector in the UK. The Minister requested the team to resolve the bottlenecks to create more opportunities in the dental sector. The General Dental Council conducts the Overseas Registration Examination or ORE to practice dentistry in the UK. Must win. Every year hundreds of BDS and MDS graduates struggle in ORE. To solve these difficulties, the minister asked the team to allocate more slots for ORE, reduce the examination fee similar to PLAB, a licensing examination in the medical field, and allow part one examination center in Kerala. The minister said that a committee will be formed to discuss the issues in this area.
The UK team said that it will discuss with the UK government and take a positive stand. There is a huge demand for dentists in the UK. By solving the problems in this field, many dentists will get an opportunity and there will be a great advancement in the field of dentistry. Immigration issues in the fields of pharmacy, primary care and palliative care were also discussed.
