Car accident in Oman: One dead, 5 injured including Malayalees

Oman: One person died in a road accident in Oman last day. The Malayali died in a car accident on the Tumraith-Haima road near Salalah in Oman. 5 people were injured. Shamseer Parakal Najeeb (39), a resident of Kannur town, is a Malayali who died in the accident.

The accident happened when the tire of the vehicle they were traveling in burst. The accident happened while returning from a visit to Salalah. The accident happened near Haimak. Five other people in the vehicle were also injured. The information related to this has been released by Oman Royal Police. They were shifted to Niswa and Haima referral hospitals by Royal Oman Police Aviation Wing helicopter.

Raees, a native of Kannur, and Bindu Makeeja (Rajasthan), who were in the vehicle, were admitted to Niswa Hospital. But another Kannur native Sameer, Kozhikode native Najeeb and Swaliha Najeeb were also brought to Haima Hospital. The Royal Oman Police led the rescue operations to save the victims of the accident.

Meanwhile, Royal Oman Police have arrested two foreigners who entered the country with drugs. They were arrested with the help of the Coast Guard of the Directorate General for Compacting Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in Dhofar Governorate. According to the report released by the police, those arrested are of Asian origin. More than 158 kg of hashish, 2300 narcotic pills and opium have been seized from them. After completion of the legal proceedings against the accused, the punishment will be given to them.
