Desk. Vigilance has been increased in Himachal Pradesh after cases of Human Metapneumo Virus (HMPV Virus) were reported in the country. Under the instructions of the government, the Health Department has asked all hospitals to conduct RTPCR test for patients with severe symptoms of cold, cough, fever and phlegm. There are also preparations to start a special lab, in which other tests will be conducted if the infection is not confirmed.
The Health Department has asked the hospital administration to monitor patients related to influenza and severe acute respiratory syndrome. Instructions have also been given to keep an eye on the people coming to Himachal from outside states. Hospitals have been asked to arrange separate wards for such patients. However, the health department claims that it is a normal virus (HMPV Virus), so there is no need to panic. Infections due to this virus have occurred in the country earlier also.
Symptoms of this (HMPV Virus) are cold and fever, mucus in the beginning and dry cough for a long time later. With proper treatment in the initial stage, it can be prevented from reaching the lungs. If there is dry cough and difficulty in breathing for a long time, it can cause pneumonia and bronchiolitis.
More cases of respiratory infections are seen in the cold season, so if you are experiencing normal flu-like symptoms of HMPV Virus, avoid panic. Protect yourself as much as you can because this is the best way to avoid it. Take special care if there is a small child at home. For protection, maintain cleanliness and wash hands frequently. Apart from this, avoid going in crowd. Improve your diet so that the immune system becomes strong.
