Kolkata. The Kolkata High Court on Tuesday ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged rape and murder of a female junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. A CBI team reached Kolkata on Wednesday to investigate the case.
According to the information, the CBI team will investigate the case of rape and murder of the doctor. A delegation of seven people has reached Kolkata today. According to sources, this team includes forensic experts and medical officers. Before this, the process of taking over the case will be completed. After that, CBI officials will reach RG Kar Medical College Hospital today.
In fact, the Calcutta High Court directed the Kolkata Police SIT investigating the case to immediately hand over all the relevant documents, CCTV footage and evidence to the CBI. While examining the case diary submitted by the police, the court found that the progress of the investigation was not satisfactory. Earlier on Monday, the CBI had said that if the police is unable to solve the case by Sunday, it will hand it over to the CBI.
Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Shubhendu Adhikari has welcomed the decision of the High Court. He said that by handing over the investigation of this case to the CBI, the Calcutta High Court has come forward as a guardian of justice. Let us tell you that recently a female doctor of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was found dead under mysterious circumstances. She was a second year postgraduate medical student in the hospital and was also working as a house staff in the Chest Medicine Department.
