Kolkata. CBI has summoned the wife of former Tala police station officer-in-charge Abhijit Mandal, arrested in the murder and rape case of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. According to the information, she was asked to appear at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake by 12:30 pm today.
Along with this, CBI has also called a lawyer. However, the reason for summoning him is not known. According to CBI sources, after a long interrogation of Abhijit Mandal, several numbers have been recovered from his phone, some of which he used to contact frequently. On the day of the RG Kar Medical College incident, his longest conversation was with his wife.
Earlier, the CBI had started investigating the corruption case in RG Kar Medical College, in which former principal of the hospital Sandeep Ghosh and OC of Tala police station Abhijit Mandal were arrested. The main allegations against Abhijit Mandal are that he did not keep the crime scene safe, destroyed evidence and gave false information to mislead the investigation.
Now the CBI presented both the accused in Sealdah court on Sunday, from where they were sent to CBI custody for three days. After which the CBI will now interrogate Sandeep Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal face to face. Let us tell you, another accused in this case, civic volunteer Sanjay Rai, was already arrested by Kolkata Police, who is currently lodged in Presidency Jail.
