In the Duma elections in September this year, Russians will be able to vote in 144 countries of the world, the Central Election Commission said. For this, 348 polling stations will be involved, plus 7 on the territory of Baikonur. As follows from the official data of the CEC, the largest number of foreign polling stations will open in Moldova (30), Germany (16) and Israel (13). 10 sites – in South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Belarus and Estonia – 9 each, and in the USA – 7. Slightly fewer (6 each) will be located in Armenia, Kazakhstan, China and Tajikistan. But in Spain, France and Turkmenistan, compatriots will be able to use five voting places.
At the same time, it is difficult to predict the number of voters who will come to foreign polling stations, since there is a different voting procedure, CEC member Pavel Andreev told Izvestia.
“The voting procedure at foreign polling stations is declarative. A person comes with a passport and votes, as there are no voter lists. However, judging by experience, the largest number of our compatriots traditionally vote in Germany and Israel. There are many compatriots in the post-Soviet space in Kazakhstan and Moldova, ”noted Pavel Andreev.
He added that all the sanitary and epidemiological requirements that are applied at sites in Russia will also be met at foreign ones. Meanwhile, the level of control over the process outside the Russian Federation will be the same as in our country, Maxim Grigoriev, head of the coordinating council at the OP for public control over voting, confirmed to Izvestia.
