Celebrity voice feature disabled on Alexa, now Amitabh Bachchan will not be heard

New Delhi. Amazon has confirmed the discontinuation of the celebrity voice feature on Alexa, which means that the voices of celebrities like megastar Amitabh Bachchan, American actor Samuel L Jackson, former American basketball player Shaquille O’Neal will no longer be heard. The feature is being shut down globally, with Amazon set to turn off celebrity voices on Alexa-powered devices in the coming days.

While buying Bachchan’s voice on Alexa, the page says, this feature is no longer available for purchase, but users who bought it last year will be able to use it for 1 year from the date of purchase.

When purchasing Jackson’s voice for Alexa, the page states that the Personality voice for Alexa is no longer available for purchase, and that users who purchased this voice can continue to use it for the time being.

Jackson was the first voice to be introduced and used to tell jokes and stories to the users and answer questions.

Celebrity Voices, which debuted in 2019, uses Amazon’s neural text-to-speech model. Its purpose is to give more sound.

In 2020, the feature came to India and Bachchan became the first celebrity voice for Alexa in the country.(IANS)
