New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha tomorrow.
The central government’s budget session begins today. At the beginning of today’s budget session, President Draupadi Murmu will address the joint session of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for the first time. After this speech, the Economic Review will be tabled in Parliament.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Budget for the financial year 2023-24 in the Lok Sabha tomorrow.
This will be the last budget for the entire financial year to be presented by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government in the context of Lok Sabha elections next year. As it is the last full-length budget of the BJP-led government, central government sources said that it will include schemes to appeal to the middle class.
The income tax exemption ceiling of Rs.2.5 lakh was set during the last budget of 2014. While there has been no change in it for the past nine years, there have been requests from various quarters to the central government to increase the upper limit. It is expected that the announcements will be made in the budget to make the monthly salary earners happy.
