New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport has recommended the Timber Bank scheme for companies involved in basic construction and development works to get speedy project approval.
Under this scheme, organizations for the development of roads, railways, airports and ports will be allowed to start accounts by planting saplings. When the project work undertaken by these organizations necessitates replanting or felling of trees, its tree bank account is checked to see how many saplings have been planted by the organization. Under this, speedy approval will be given.
Regarding this scheme, central government sources say, “These organizations can use unused land and affected forest areas to plant saplings for the tree bank.
