Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will not be able to go to the Olympic match to encourage hockey players. The central government has refused to give permission for this. The central government refused to give political approval to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to go to Paris to support the Indian hockey team in the Olympic Games.
In fact, Mann, who holds a diplomatic passport, had to go to Paris (Paris Olympics) from August 3 to 9 for the quarter-final match of the Indian hockey team on August 4 and he (Bhagwant Mann) had sought political clearance for his travel. A state government source said that the Center refused to give him permission saying that since Mann has Z-plus security, it is not possible to arrange security for him in a short time.
The source said that the Chief Minister’s Office was informed about this decision on Friday evening. Senior leaders of political parties have to take political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs for foreign travel. Mann on Friday congratulated the Indian hockey team for its historic victory over Australia in the Paris Olympics. India defeated this strong team 3-2 for the first time since 1972 on Friday.
At the same time, CM Bhagwant Mann spoke to the captain of the Indian hockey team and said that I wanted to come to encourage you but I did not get political approval. I was planning to go to the quarter-finals but the central government said that I cannot go. I will not be able to come to Paris (Paris Olympics) but I am with you.
