Chandigarh: Three people, including a student, have been arrested in connection with the release of a video of Chandigarh University students. The court has granted permission to interrogate them in police custody for 7 days.
Chandigarh University operates in Mohali, Punjab. A video of 60 female students staying in the hostel of this private university taking a bath has gone viral on social media.
An MBA student took a video of female students taking a bath in the hostel and sent it to her boyfriend. He allegedly posted the video on social media. The MBA student who took the video, her boyfriends Sunny Mehta (23) and Rangaj Verma (30) from Shimla were arrested. All 3 of them were produced in Mohali court yesterday. The court allowed them to be interrogated in police custody for 7 days.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav says, “A special committee consisting of 3 women IPS officers has been constituted to investigate the Chandigarh University case. The special committee will conduct a thorough investigation and bring the facts to light. The wrongdoers cannot escape,” he said.
The students were engaged in continuous protest in the university campus. To prevent this, the university has been given a holiday till the 24th. All hostel students have been ordered to go home.
Cell phone bullying
Meanwhile, the Univ. Some of the students were contacted by the mysterious persons from Canada on their cell phones. The mysterious persons who spoke in it threatened that they have the bathroom videos of the students and will release them.
Also, the mysterious persons have ordered the father of the students to talk to them. So there is a suspicion that there may be an international conspiracy in the Chandigarh University issue.
How did the student take the video?
Chandigarh University has a large number of female students admitted this year. There is not enough building facility to accommodate them in the hostel. Therefore, the university administration has reserved the student hostel for female students. As the hostel is built for students, there are not enough bathrooms. So when the students took a bath in public, a fellow student easily took a video.
Sunny Mehta, who has been arrested in this case, is working in a bakery in Shimla. His friend Rangaj Verma works in a travel agency there. The two allegedly posted the video together on social media.
