Chaos In Chokkani Festival Held At Srikalasthishwara Temple, Stampede, Fire Broke Out

Srikalahasti Stampede was held at Chokkani Festival. Chokkani Utsav was held in Alanya on Wednesday night. As the fire broke out in this order, the devotees ran away. This caused a stampede. Many temple security personnel were injured in the accident. Chokkani Utsav is held on the day of Krittika Nakshatra. Special pujas are first performed to the utsavamurti of Swami.. After that, palm trees are burnt in the fire.

Chaos broke out in the Chokkani Utsav held at Srikalastheeswara temple in Tirupati district. At the end of the Chokkani Utsav organized in the Mukkanti temple on the occasion of Krittika Dipotsavam, the devotees ran away in fear when a fire broke out. There was a stampede among the devotees after the fire broke out during the Deepotsavam. The temple security could not control the devotees as the fire broke out while lighting the lamp festival among the devotees in the Mukkanti temple.

A security guard was injured in the stampede as devotees fell on top of each other. Another woman fell ill as she could not breathe.. Another employee’s hand was sprained. During this time, fire embers fell on the devotees, and they said that the accident happened due to the burning of shirt and manu without a plan. The security personnel extinguished the sparks that fell on the Rahu Ketu mandapam. Devotees allege that this happened due to the failure of temple security.

Chokkani Utsav was organized in Srikalasthi to celebrate Tamil Kartikam and Krittika Nakshatra day. Chokani Manu was set up near the Mandapam of Nagarikumaru in the temple premises and burnt. First special pujas were performed to the Utsavamurthys of Sri Kalahastiswaraswamy along with Sri Gnana Prasunambika.. and then the tala trees were set on fire. Sankalpa pooja was also performed under the guidance of the ancestral head of the temple, Deeksha Gurukul Swaminathan. Shriswatmanandendra Saraswathi, Uttaradhikari of Srivisakha Sarada Peetham participated in this festival.
