Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko is expected to arrive in China on July 9 for a three-day visit. This is reported by the Xinhua news agency.
According to available information, Matviyenko is to head the Russian delegation at a face-to-face meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation between the Federal Assembly and the National People’s Congress (NPC).
The Speaker of the Federation Council was invited by Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Zhao Leji.
Earlier, on June 25, it became known that representatives of the foreign ministries of the Russian Federation and China highly appreciated the current state of bilateral relations, confirming their readiness to work together to strengthen them. The trusting nature and large-scale potential of cooperation were also noted.
A month earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the connection between Moscow and Beijing is becoming stronger, despite the sanctions of Western countries and the actions of opponents. He also said that he met with Chinese President and new Premier of the State Council Li Qiang to discuss the implementation of the agreements between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.
A number of agreements were signed as a result of negotiations at the end of May. Among them are the export of millet and medicinal herbs from the Russian Federation to China, the deepening of investment cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, holding joint events in the fields of medicine, transport, construction, education, and so on.
