Beijing: The hospital management has taken action against the doctor who hit an elderly patient on the head during an eye surgery.
An 82-year-old woman went to a hospital in China for eye surgery. For the procedure, the doctor has given him a local anesthetic to numb the area. The old lady was not completely unconscious and she cried during the operation. He also could not understand the doctor’s warning. As a result, the doctor hit the patient three times on the head. All this was recorded on the surveillance camera in the hospital.
This shocking incident took place in 2019 at a hospital in Guigang, China. In this situation, Ai Fen, a doctor who was part of the medical team that alerted the public when Covid started spreading in Wuhan, shared the footage on Weibo. It recently went viral on Chinese social media.
Meanwhile, in a statement released on behalf of the hospital, “The patient was given anesthesia for treatment. During the treatment, the patient kept moving his head and eyeballs. He could not understand the doctor’s warning while speaking in the local language. The doctor handled the patient severely in this difficult situation.”
Meanwhile, after the video of the old woman being attacked went viral, the parent company of the concerned doctor, Aier China, has ordered the suspension of the doctor involved in the incident and the dismissal of the CEO of the hospital. The hospital administration has apologized to the concerned elderly patient and offered him 500 yuan as compensation. However, the mother’s son has told that his mother has vision loss in her left eye.
