Manchester City produced a strong attacking display to win 4-1 at Bournemouth and move within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday.
Arsenal beat Leicester City 1-0 to advance by five points, and City becomes required to beat Bournemouth.
City started strongly, dominated the game, and advanced with a goal after 15 minutes, as Julian Alvarez followed a rebound that changed direction from his colleague Erling Haaland and bounced off the crossbar.
Haaland added the second goal, raising his tally to 27 league goals this season, and surpassing Sergio Aguero’s number in the 2014-2015 season to become the club’s top scorer in one season in the Premier League.
Phil Foden sealed the victory before the break, taking advantage of a wrong pass from Philip Billing, past Jack Stephens and shooting at the goal.
Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham scored an own goal before his teammate Jefferson Lerma scored in the 83rd minute the only goal for his team, which fell into the relegation zone earlier today.
City has 55 points, compared to 57 for Arsenal, who has one game in hand.
