The first death from dengue fever in the city of São Paulo was confirmed in 2024. So far, the state has six deaths registered, according to the state administration’s Monitoring Panel.
As of Wednesday (7), 34,995 cases of the disease were registered in the state, with 31,312 records under investigation. The platform indicates that the main symptoms were fever, myalgia and headache.
This week a death was also confirmed in Guarulhos, the first death from the disease in Greater São Paulo.
Last Tuesday (6), the state announced the formation of a COE (Emergency Operations Center) to monitor and coordinate actions to combat dengue in the state. The objective is to identify, based on the evolution of the epidemiological scenario, the priority regions for controlling the disease.
The state plan to combat Aedes aegyptithe mosquito that transmits dengue fever, should include educational and communication campaigns, an investment of R$12 million in testing and the transfer of R$200 million to São Paulo city halls throughout the year.
