Lucknow: The 2nd T20I between India and New Zealand will be played in Lucknow today at 7 PM.
In the 3-match T20 cricket series between the two teams, the New Zealand team won by 21 runs in the first match held in Ranchi yesterday. Chasing a target of 177 runs, the Indian team managed to score only 155 runs on a spin-friendly pitch in Ranchi.
In this match, the weaknesses in the fast bowling of the Indian team were exposed. Arshdeep Singh scored 27 runs in the last over of the match while Umran Malik gave away 16 runs in one over. This created more pressure for the Indian team in batting. Due to this, there is a possibility that there will be some changes in the bowling in today’s game.
In batting, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Deepak Hooda are in a position to show their best if they want to retain their place in the team. Ishan Kishan has not reached 40 runs once in his last 7 innings (ODI, T20I). He had only hit double figures twice.
Deepak Hooda averages just 17.88 in his last 13 innings. Deepak Hooda, who batted at number 7 in the Ranchi match, lost the match after scoring 10 runs off 10 balls. He did not rotate the strike while the spinners were throwing.
In the Ranchi match, Washington Sundar performed well in bowling and took 2 wickets and added 50 runs in 28 balls in the batting which is seen as a positive thing. The Indian team may be extra cautious as a loss in today’s match could mean losing the T20 series.
For the New Zealand team, they can win today’s match and win the series. Daven Conway and Daryl Mitchell will once again put pressure on the Indian bowlers.
