In the end, they didn’t tell the customer what exactly happened, but they still refunded the $200 overcharge.

A TikTok user posted a video accusing Walmart of charging his grandmother $200 more just because.. The user, who goes by the handle @flappernugget420, said this happened at a branch in the city of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
In the video, the man says that Walmart is ripping people off by overcharging for nothing. And it is that, on the label, where the charge of $201.77 dollars appears, only the legend ‘SITE MERCH’ appears.
@flappernugget420 said in the video that he has no idea what site merch is.
The TikToker went on to explain that his grandmother was the one who paid the bill, although he did not realize the charge at the time of doing so. The upset man also said that the $200 they were charged did not appear on the ATM screen either..
Other TikTok users gave different explanations for what might have happened, as well as suggesting that they contact the bank to resolve the issue.
One person said that sometimes when the cashier scans a product two different prices can appear, which is a system error and it is not clear why it happens.
The same person suggested they go back to the store and ask for a refund.
Another user said that many times the prices on the shelves are not the prices of the products.
A third theorized that employees add gift cards to customers’ accounts to keep for themselves later.
Still others said that what really happened is that the cashier mistyped the product code on the label, causing that charge to be added.
@flappernugget420 said in another video that Walmart reviewed the security camera footage and that They showed that her grandmother didn’t buy anything for $200..
In the end, they didn’t tell him what exactly happened, but they still gave him back the $200 he had been overcharged.
On the Consumer Gravity site, it says that Walmart customers can sometimes receive a charge on their receipts labeled ‘Site Merch.’
These charges are often erroneous captures by cashiers when charging for food, bakery, or deli items.
In these cases, Consumer Gravity recommends going to Walmart to ask for a refund. So be sure to save your receipt..
