During the elections that took place yesterday, the 46-year-old former coach, who oversaw many prominent European clubs such as Porto itself, Chelsea and Tottenham in England, Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia and Marseille in France, received 21,489 votes from the club’s general assembly, compared to 5,224 for his 86-year-old competitor, who has headed the club since April 1982.
