The fatal fall of the nationalist blogger Yegor Prosvirnin from the fourth floor of a house on Tverskoy Boulevard in Moscow is neither suicide nor murder, it is a tragic accident. This was announced on December 28 by the editors of the Sputnik and Pogrom publication, whose editor-in-chief was Prosvirnin.
According to the deceased’s associates, the last week the nationalist was ill, suffered from insomnia and was in a “gloomy state of mind”, but “there was no question of any suicide,” plans for the next year were “truly ambitious.”
The editorial office reported that on the day of his death, Prosvirnin decided to “drown out physical pain and existential melancholy with alcohol.”
“Around 12 o’clock in the afternoon there was a common quarrel with his wife. Marina Prosvirnina left the apartment around 3 pm, and Yegor locked himself inside. An hour and a half later the landlord called Marina and said that a man’s body was lying under the balcony on Tverskoy Boulevard, ”the message says.
The publication noted that the incident was not a murder.
“Could it be murder? All the information we have indicates that it is not. <...> Despite the chaos and pogrom inside, no evidence of struggle or violence was found. During the inspection of the scene and the seizure of equipment, our lawyer was present in the apartment. He also found no traces of a criminal offense, ”the editorial office said.
At the same time, what happened to Prosvirnin is not considered suicide in the publication.
“It was an unfortunate, tragic, monstrous incident. Yegor did not plan to commit suicide, and his fatal flight from the fourth floor of a house on Tverskaya is a terrible, but accidental, “- concluded the colleagues of the nationalist.
A day earlier, a naked man fell out of a window, knife in hand, on Tverskoy Boulevard in central Moscow. It was noted that he received fatal injuries and died before the arrival of doctors. Later, the Izvestia correspondent reported from the scene that the dead was a nationalist blogger, founder of the Sputnik and Pogrom project Yegor Prosvirnin, who was 35 years old.
According to Izvestia’s source, shortly before his death, Prosvirnin behaved inappropriately, the neighbors had to call the police. The residents of the house heard a quarrel between a man and his wife and mother-in-law. However, after the police came to call the neighbors, Prosvirnin’s relatives said that they had no complaints about the blogger. The police officers left, and the nationalist kicked the women out of the apartment.
The source added that at the time of his death, Prosvirnin was probably under the influence of drugs. Unknown drugs were seized from his apartment.
In 2017, the Sputnik and Pogrom project, along with other nationalist information resources, was blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office for materials of an extremist and terrorist nature. Roskomnadzor later added Sputnik and Pogrom to the list of banned sites.
In 2015, Prosvirnin came to the attention of law enforcement officers as part of the investigation of a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Taking actions aimed at inciting hatred or enmity, publicly or using the media”).
