New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Defense Ajad Bhatt said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha yesterday:
Various benefits are given to defense forces soldiers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, soldiers who have lost their limbs, and the heirs of missing soldiers. Full tuition fees are provided to the successors. School bus fare and train fare are provided. The accommodation fee for students staying in hostels in schools and colleges is provided in full. Rs.2,000 per year for books and Rs.700 for uniforms.
Spouses of war dead soldiers, war amputees and their heirs are provided with free medical treatment under the Ex-Servicemen Health Scheme. Also, 8 percent quota is given in petrol stations and cooking gas distributor licenses issued by the Central Petroleum Department.
14.5 per cent of Group C posts and 24.5 per cent of Group D vacancies are given in vacant posts of Public Sector Undertakings, Banks, Central Finance Department, Economic Affairs Department.
Relief funds ranging from Rs.25 lakh to Rs.45 lakh are provided to the army officers and soldiers who died in the line of duty. A compensation of Rs.8 lakh will be given from the Army Trust. Full pension will be provided to the family. Compensation will also be provided on behalf of the State Governments.
Rs.25,000 to Rs.50,000 per year for higher education of heirs and Rs.1 lakh for marriage of female heirs. Rs.20,000 to Rs.50,000 per annum for higher education of wives of martyred soldiers.
42 MBPS on behalf of the Central Health Department to the heirs of martyred soldiers. Seats, 3 bds seats will be allotted. He said this.
